The library of Elise and Helene Richter

In this portal you can search the inventory of the former Richter-library of Elise and Helene Richter. The underlying data was published as Open Bibliographic Data using the CC0-Waiver by the Central Library of the University of Cologne (Universitäts- und Stadtbibliothek Köln, USB Köln). More information on the project 'Richter-library' of the USB Köln can be found at http://richterbibliothek.ub.uni-koeln.de/.

Due to the pressure of Nazi anti-semitic policies in Austria their library of around 3.000 volumes was sold to the University of Cologne. After finding the corresponcence in the universities archive, the library is reconstructed as part of the NS provenance science at the Central library (USB Köln) of the University of Cologne, so it can be restituted - if possible - to their legitimate heirs. In addition a small square near the USB shall be named after both sisters. (Source: Wikipedia)

One of the main motivations behind this portal is to demonstrate the key features of the open source software OpenBib: The creation of multiple different search and information portals with different hostnames and only one installation of OpenBib. Both www.richter-bibliothek.de and search.openbib.org are implemented with the same OpenBib instance.

This is facilitated by several configuration options in OpenBib as well as simple URL-rewriting for the corresponding hostname.
